Intel LANDesk® Client Manager (LDCM)
Intel LANDesk Client Manager is an application that simplifies local and network management of mobile and desktop client systems. It monitors PC health to provide local and remote alerts. It gives local and remote views of hardware and software component, even via dial-up. And it does all this through standards and industry initiatives such as Desktop Management Interface (DMI), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and the Wired for Management (WfM) Initiative.
This release is pre-installed on original equipment manufacturers’ PCs and is designed to lower the cost of PC ownership while providing greater control and flexibility to systems administrators.

Reduced cost of ownership
Intel LANDesk Client Manager provides comprehensive self-help diagnostics. PC
Health provides local and remote alerting of potential problems, along with inventories of hundreds of hardware and thousands of software items. Automatic polling and alerting for memory and hardware conditions help minimize downtime and promote more effective troubleshooting. LANDesk Client Manager takes advantage of special hardware on the desktop PC to provide predictive failure mechanisms for catching problems with the hard drive, fan, power supply or
temperature.
In addition, LANDesk Client Manager takes periodic snapshots of critical configuration files for easy configuration management and restoration when needed. An administrator’s console enables network managers to unobtrusively view each PC workstation's status. With security set to full
access, managers can transfer files and remotely reboot the client workstation, as necessary.
Standards-based management
Intel LANDesk Client Manager allows organizations to take advantage of Intel’s WfM Initiative and is based on the industry-standard Desktop Management Interface (DMI) Specification v2.0. Its DMI compliance allows it to be used with leading DMI 2.0 compliant network management tools, including the Intel LANDesk Management Suite. Intel LANDesk Client Manager also utilizes the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)standard for enterprise-wide alerting. It can even be integrated with popular enterprise management applications.
Supports leading operating environments
LANDesk Client Manager supports today’s leading operating environments, including Microsoft Windows* 95 and Microsoft Windows NT* 4.0. IP and IPX network protocols are supported for centralized remote management.
